Telit Provides New Developer Tool

Developing an application just got a little bit easier. Cellular mini PCI express cards can allow developers to easily integrate M2M (machine-to-machine) capabilities into solutions—and the market for these cards could be ripe for growth, especially considering the increase of M2M applications.

To meet this need, Telit Wireless Solutions, www.telit.com, announced today a mini PCI express card with an embedded M2M module designed for industrial applications. The HE910-based Mini-PCIe adapter card enables 3G cellular data, voice, and video communication for embedded PCs. Some applications include ATMs, kiosks, digital signage, surveillance, and fleet management, among others.

Telit says the plug-and-play card slot and 52-pin card edge connector allows application developers to easily integrate M2M capabilities into solutions.


Dominikus Hierl, chief marketing officer, Telit Wireless Solutions, says this has previously been a niche market, but it expects it to grow significantly due to the increase of M2M applications and the need for both high-performance motherboards and cellular connectivity for remote, off-site solutions.

The card is designed for M2M applications that require high bandwidth and worldwide coverage. Additionally, the HE910 with Mini PCIe Adapter combines radio technology with backward compatibility to GSM, GPRS, and EDGE networks. Users can choose to add integrated high sensitivity A-GPS functionality.
