Working with its telematics service provider, Chrysler integrates wireless services with an embedded telematics unit and its call center. This has helped Chrysler create EVTS (electronic vehicles tracking system), an accessory option for new vehicles that can be provisioned for the customer seamlessly without dealer assistance.

Through the use of M2M technology, the Trane ComfortLink Remote Thermostat system has helped to transform the company into one on the cutting edge of home technology in the area of wireless home-energy management. ASL Holdings Ltd.
Through the use of GPRS technology, industrial form factor SIMs, and flexible contract management, ASL Holdings has increased scalability and reliability, as well as reduced operational costs and restrictions on usage for utility metering communications in deregulated energy supply markets. The use of M2M has increased the yield of data being transmitted across the network and its reliability by 30-40% lowering the cost of the airtime provisioning element.

Great River Energy
Faced with the challenge of an aging and nearly obsolete SCADA network, Great River Energy installed a wireless network that allows it to replace multiple communication circuits to substations with one communication circuit running multiple applications. This allows it to respond to new communication requests from its electrical engineering or system operations departments and has a more homogenous network throughout the electrical system.
RWE Effizienz GmbH
RWE Efficiency uses cellular M2M technology to automate all electrical vehicle charging station tasks. Transmission of vehicle authentication data is done automatically without the need of an additional RFID card via the charging cable and a high bandwidth PLC. M2M manages all processes including: vehicle authentication, authorization check at the M2M backend, safety proceedings, charging activation, meter reading, digital signing of meter datagram, and smart charging protocol device management.

GeaCom, Inc.
GeaCom has brought to market Phrazer, a device that facilitates accurate communication levels between patients and doctors using various languages and coming from distinct cultures. Through a multimedia interface, patient and doctor can communicate much more effectively. This is achieved using language modules accessible through the user interface, downloaded over the wireless network.

Meridian Health
Patients discharged from Meridian Health’s Ocean Medical Center are provided with a wireless monitoring device, which is tracked remotely by a nurse who is automatically alerted to early symptoms of a condition. The program has helped decrease the readmission rate for congestive heart failure patients, with an expected impact by year end of an overall reduction of close to 12%.

Physio-Control
Physio-Control’s LIFEPAK monitor/defibrillators, in conjunction with a Web-based system, use M2M technology to connect field and hospital care teams with critical patient data ahead of the patient’s arrival at the hospital. Medics in the field use LIFEPAK to capture patient data and then send this information to hospitals via the Internet.

Aerotel Medical Systems
Aerotel has created a communication hub that guarantees seamless data transmission from various homecare sensors to a remote medical monitoring center, regardless of vendor or protocol used. Once a patient’s health measurements have been recorded by multiple connected instruments, the device automatically activates parameter reading and transmission. Devices are networked to the Internet via modem or router, USB cable, Bluetooth, or wireless networks.

Through the use of M2M, San Jose Police Dept. has created a fully functional mobile office environment for its patrol cars that helps to decentralize record keeping. Leveraging the 3G network, officers have realtime access to vital back-end databases directly from their patrol cars.

Smart Start, Inc.
Devices from Smart Start Inc., provide monitoring and reporting that measures the breath alcohol of a potential driver. M2M allows realtime actual measurement and monitoring of the alcohol content of a potential driver as well as a periodic ‘rolling test’ to ensure the driver remains below the alcohol limit during a drive period.

Utility, Inc., is bundling the cellular boosting technology with mobile communications router technology to increase the performance and reliability of vehicle M2M data communications and reporting for first responder and utility customers. Expanded cellular connectivity provides better situational awareness reporting, improves the productivity and effectiveness of field crews, and increases the safety of customer’s field crews.
