Can we enter on behalf of another company?
Yes. The adopter listed on the part one, question one of ballot will be considered the entrant, or the company that is eligible to win. This award will also honor the companies listed as solution providers/part of the value chain, in the event that the adopter is chosen as a finalist.
In the past, public relations firms and/or other value chain members have aided in the submission for the adopter. This is acceptable, however, the adopter must approve the final entry as well as provide the required signatures.
Can we submit more than one entry?
Yes. Each entry requires a separate entry application and entry fee. Companies must submit unique deployments for each submission.
What is the entry fee?
The entry fee is $175 USD. Entry fees are not refundable. The Awards program does not provide any discounts for entry fees. The payment/approval form will include all required information for the fee to be fulfilled.
What are the judging criteria?
Entries are judged on the overall strength of the deployment, especially the level of innovation and the business value obtained. Winning submissions will explain the problem/challenge, how technology was innovatively used, and what the payoff/benefit of this application was to the corporate adopter. The score for each entry is based on how the company explains the major challenge it faced or the opportunity that was created by using M2M technology. Some of these answers might include improved customer service, better asset visibility, increased uptime, and automated business processes.

How are the winners determined?
Each individual score is recorded, and the entries are rated by an average score. The award team reviews the scoring and written comments and Connected World editors then make a final determination of gold, silver, and bronze winners by the scores of the entries in each category. This is done by comparing the scores of the entries in that category as well as the ranking of the individual score. Not all categories will have a gold, silver, and bronze winner.
When do we hear if we won?
Entrants will be notified that they have been named a finalist, if chosen so. Finalists will win an award; it is just a matter of whether it is a gold, silver, or bronze, which is announced at the awards ceremony. To be eligible to win, companies must be in attendance.
What happens if a company is not in attendance?
If the adopter/end-user company is not in attendance, the company as well as any listed technology providers will not receive the award. If another member of the value chain (solution provider, integrator, etc.) is not in attendance, that individual company will not receive their individual award.
When is the awards ceremony?
The Value Chain Awards are presented at the close of the annual Connected World conference. For more information on the 2011 Connected World Conference, please visit the conference website.
